The course "Technical Drawing: Rings" is a series of 3 live interactive sessions by jewellery designer Inesa Kovalova, in which we learn how to construct precise technical drawings of rings in three views.
A technical drawing is an exact, scaled representation of a jewellery piece that communicates its form, proportions and construction without ambiguity. Unlike a sketch, it follows specific conventions — front, side and top views drawn in correct projection — so that every detail can be read and interpreted by a goldsmith, CAD artist or manufacturer. The ability to produce clear technical drawings allows designers to communicate their vision with complete precision, bridges the gap between idea and making, and forms the professional foundation of every jewellery design practice.
Technical Drawing: Rings
We are happy to welcome you at Draw Me A Jewel - online jewellery illustration school.
Inesa Kovalova is a jewellery designer, educator and founder of Draw Me A Jewel illustration school. Trained first in architecture — where technical drawing was a daily discipline — she went on to study jewellery design at the Creative Academy of the Richemont group in Milan, followed by an internship in the Van Cleef & Arpels design department in Paris. A graduate of Central Saint Martins, she runs her own jewellery design practice and works as a design consultant for jewellery brands. She founded Draw Me A Jewel in 2016; since launching online in 2020, more than 500 students worldwide have taken her courses.
